The Rialto Bridge is one of the most famous structures in the world. Grand Tourists clamored for such snapshots of Venice, and this artist happily responded. Guardi, one of the city’s leading artists in the 1700s, produced many such works—called vedute, or “view,” paintings—to meet tourists’ demands.
