Please begin your visit in the Museum Lobby where admission tickets are sold.

MSV Members

Members receive free and unlimited entry. Simply present your Membership Card at the Front Desk or Garden entrance.

Picnics in the Garden

Picnics are welcome in the Museum Gardens. From April through December, a picnic area is open to guests at the garden entrance. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase in the Museum Store. Several bistro tables are located on the first floor of the MSV (two seats per table).



The galleries & gardens are open Tuesday through Sunday (closed Monday). Trails open daily 7 a.m.–dusk.

  • January through March: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (galleries building)
  • April through December: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (galleries, formal gardens, Glen Burnie House)
  • Trails: 7 a.m. to dusk
  • Extended Wednesday summer hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. between Memorial Day and Labor Day (Wednesdays only)
  • Please note: some MSV programs and workshops begin prior to public visiting hours.
Holidays

In addition to the standard Monday closings, the galleries & gardens will also be closed on the following holidays:

  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Day

Daily admission is free to members


Daily Admission for All Other Guests

Admission includes the galleries, gardens, and Glen Burnie House. Admission is not required to visit the first floor of the Museum where you can enjoy Art in the Halls and shop in the Museum Store.

Adult: $15
Seniors: $10
Youth (13–18): $10
Ages 12 & under: free admission
MSV members: free admission
Trails: free to all

 

Free Wednesdays

On Wednesdays, individual and family admission fees to the gardens and galleries are waived thanks to the generosity of corporate sponsor Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. Reservations are required for all groups of 10 or more and group admission fees apply on Wednesdays (see below).

 

Group Rates

The discounted rate of $10 per person are offered for adult groups of 10 or more. This rate also applies on Free Wednesdays. Free Wednesday admission applies to individuals and families only.

To receive the group discount, one payment is required. Individuals in a group may not pay separately.

Reciprocal Admission

The MSV participates in the American Horticultural Society Reciprocal Admissions Program (see a list of participating gardens & arboreta here) and NARM, the North American Reciprocal Museum Association (see a list of participating museums here). NARM participation is available only to MSV donor members. Find out about MSV donor membership here.

 

Blue Star Museums

The MSV is a proud participant in the National Endowment for the Arts Blue Star Museums initiative and offers free admission to the nation’s active service members, including National Guard and Reserve and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day (military ID required). At the MSV, the free admission offer from Memorial Day through Labor also applies to individual veterans and individual retired military service members (military ID required; offer does not extend to veteran/retirees’ families).

  • Take I-81 south to exit 317
  • Follow signs for Route 37 south
  • Continue to travel south on Route 37 to Route 50 (Winchester/Romney exit)
  • Take the Winchester/Romney exit for Route 50
  • Turn left onto Route 50/Amherst Street
  • After approximately one mile, the Museum entrance will be on your right
From Points South of Winchester:
  • Take I-81 north to exit 310
  • Follow signs for Route 37 north
  • Continue to travel north on Route 37 to Route 50 (Winchester/Romney exit)
  • Take the Winchester/Romney exit for Route 50
  • Turn right onto Route 50/Amherst Street
  • After approximately one mile, the Museum entrance will be on your right
From Washington DC:

We are located about 75 miles from the D.C. metro area.

  • Take Interstate 66 west to Interstate 81 north
  • Take I-81 north to exit 310
  • Follow signs for Route 37 north
  • Continue to travel north on Route 37 to Route 50 (Winchester/Romney exit)
  • Take the Winchester/Romney exit for Route 50
  • Turn right onto Route 50/Amherst Street
  • After approximately one mile, the Museum entrance will be on your right
Public Transit

The City of Winchester’s public transportation system (WinTran) has a bus stop located just outside the MSV entrance on Amherst Street. For more details about WinTran, please visit their website.



Parking


Free parking is available to MSV visitors. Limited Trails parking is available at the Amherst and Jefferson Street entrances. Trails visitors may also use the main parking lots.

Handicap Parking

Handicap parking spaces are available.
