Valentine Fraktur

Date: 1830

This is an example of a valentine Fraktur, or a Fraktur whose purpose was to express romantic love or friendship.  Samuel McWaid was the lucky recipient of this one’s sentiment.  The inscription reads:  “Round is the ring that has no end.  So is my Love to you My Friend.”  The valentine has watercolor designs of red fruit and plum-colored roses.
