Date: 1800s
Spices were highly valued in the 1800s and often kept in decorative boxes like this one. This spice box is made of tinned sheet iron, and has a punched design on its molded lid. To make it, the joints between one piece of sheet metal and another were folded, and then soldered. The molded feet and handle were also attached with solder.
