School Room

This miniature school room has two probable sources of inspiration. Perhaps it was motivated by memories of the one-room schoolhouse that Massey attended as a boy. It could have been inspired by Massey’s own workshop located behind his house, which had once been a one-room school. Massey included details that capture how vividly he remembered his inspiration. Note the apple and flowers on the teacher’s desk, or the math problems written on the chalkboard.
