Pistol

Local tradition holds that Simon Lauck left Winchester in 1775 at the age of 15, along with his older brother Peter, to serve as one of Daniel Morgan’s personal bodyguards during the Revolutionary War. He was one of six men under Morgan’s command regarded as the “Dutch Mess”. These were men who spoke German and could serve as interpreters for the Hessian mercenaries that were taken prisoner.
