Samuel Bell was just thirteen years old when he moved to Winchester with his family. In 1843 he moved to Strasburg, and by the 1850’s his potting business was well established. This greyhound was originally decorated with paint, and it had highlighted eyelashes, whiskers, and claws. Bell inscribed his name twice on the interior of the form.
