The French Parlor

This French Parlor room box was once a 1740s English reliquary, or shrine for religious objects. The exact design of the artifact purchased by Taylor is not known, but a look at a similar object reveals how its intricate details could be used in miniature design. Lee Taylor oversaw its transformation into this ornate parlor. He decorated it with notable pieces including the Austrian-style chandelier, japanned chair, and an exquisite landscape painting hanging above the mantel.
