Fraktur

Date: 1818

This two-page certificate was made for Margaret Fries of Winchester, Virginia. The record page features large black and red letters, flowers, and nectar-seeking birds. The design page shows a tree and flowers that support a pair of birds.  These elements were drawn with a pen, as was the certificate’s double border of twisted bands. The Fries family name is associated with Winchester and other areas.
