This certificate for John Copp is on laid paper, or paper that has fine lines running across its grain. The inscription is in German, and was made using gall ink. The red script is religious in nature. A distinctive tulip and red flower design fills panels that flank the inscription, which is encircled with leafy vines. The watercolors are in green, red, blue, and yellow.
