Date: ca. 1810
This collection contains two portraits of this young man. In this later portrait, we see him as a justice of the peace. His pose is more ambitious here than in the earlier portrait. He stands at an angle, against a stormy setting. His expression is cool, and we are riveted by the deep crimsons of his fashionable jacket that emphasizes his trim form. Sir Thomas Lawrence painted four portraits of Boucherett, who was the son of his friend. It is indeed remarkable that this Museum owns two portraits from that set by this major artist.
