Meet Artist Neena Jhaveri at the MSV on May 18

Special Show & Sale of Garden-Inspired Works in Museum Lobby from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Winchester, VA 5/15/19…The lobby of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV) will be filled with the vibrant creations of award-winning Shenandoah Valley artist Neena Jhaveri on Saturday, May 18. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Museum Store will host a spring show and sale of Jhaveri’s newest garden-inspired creations.

On the day of the trunk show, Neena Jhaveri will be at the MSV for informal conversation about her work from 10 a.m. until noon.

Born in Ahmedabad, India, Neena Jhaveri moved to Winchester, Virginia, in 1988. She has created customized pottery for the Museum Store since its 2005 opening. Many of the pieces Jhaveri creates for the MSV include live flowers, herbs, and greenery from the museum’s Glen Burnie Gardens. According to Museum Store Manager Bonnie Barr, Jhaveri’s pottery is a perennial best-seller in the store, and many customers collect the artist’s one-of-a-kind pieces and eagerly anticipate her newest creations.

In 2015, Neena Jhaveri received a Buyer’s Choice award from the Museum Store Association during its annual convention, and Jhaveri’s pottery is now available in stores at prestigious museums and botanical gardens, including the Denver Art Museum, the Chicago Botanic Garden, Monticello, the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery, and the Atlanta Botanical Garden.

Along with featuring the popular customized Museum pottery, the MSV event will unveil Neena Jhaveri’s newest garden-themed works, including jewelry, vases, silk scarves, silk ponchos, purses, table linens, and more.

There is no fee to visit the Museum Store, view the display, and meet artist Neena Jhaveri. Regular admission rates apply to visit the MSV exhibitions, galleries, and gardens.

Those attending Saturday’s trunk show may also browse the MSV Heritage Plant Sale, which will be entering its final day on May 18. Held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the patio beside the MSV Reception Hall, the Heritage Plant Sale features perennials, shrubs, trees, and heirloom vegetables selected by the museum’s horticultural experts for their ability to thrive in Shenandoah Valley gardens. Admission to the plant sale is free to all.
