June 16 12:00 pm

Learn about early Negro League Baseball—from the first teams of the 1880s through the 1950s—during this illustrated presentation by Dr. James Coates Jr., a cultural studies scholar and expert on sport, leisure, and recreation in the African American community. Held in the Reception Hall, the program will highlight some of the lesser-known stories, players, and teams that make up this uniquely American story.
