Asian immigrants have been in Virginia as early as 1860. During this virtual program, Emma Ito, director of education at Virginia Humanities, will talk about Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the Civil War, how Asian immigrants and Asian Americans lived within the confines of Jim Crow Virginia, the experiences of Japanese immigrants in Virginia during World War II, and more.
