Special Show & Sale of Garden-Inspired Works in Museum Lobby from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Winchester, VA 6/25/18…The lobby of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV) will be filled with the vibrant creations of award-winning Shenandoah Valley artist Neena Jhaveri on Saturday, June 30. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Museum Store will host a summer show and sale of Jhaveri’s newest garden-inspired creations.

On the day of the trunk show, Neena Jhaveri will be at the MSV to discuss her work from 10 a.m. until noon.

Born in Ahmedabad, India, Neena Jhaveri moved to Winchester, Virginia, in 1988. She has created customized pottery for the Museum Store since its 2005 opening. Many of the artist’s pottery pieces for the MSV are created using live flowers, herbs, and greenery from the Museum’s own Glen Burnie Gardens. According to Museum Store Manager Bonnie Barr, Jhaveri’s garden pottery is a perennial best-seller in the store; many customers collect the artist’s one-of-a-kind pieces and eagerly anticipate her newest creations.

In 2015, Neena Jhaveri received a Buyer’s Choice award from the Museum Store Association (MSA) during its annual convention, and Jhaveri’s pottery is now available at stores in prestigious museums and botanical gardens, such as the Denver Art Museum, the Chicago Botanic Garden, Monticello, the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery, and the Atlanta Botanical Garden.

Along with featuring the popular customized Museum pottery, the MSV event will unveil Neena Jhaveri’s newest garden-themed works, including paintings, clay jewelry, room oil diffusers, vases, silk scarves, silk ponchos, purses, and table linens.

There is no fee to visit the Museum Store, view the display, and meet artist Neena Jhaveri. Regular admission rates apply to visit the MSV exhibitions, galleries, and gardens.

A regional cultural center, the MSV is located at 901 Amherst Street in Winchester, Virginia. The MSV includes galleries displaying permanent collections and changing exhibitions, the Glen Burnie House, and seven acres of gardens. The award-winning traveling exhibition Nature Connects®: Art with LEGO® Bricks is on view in the MSV gardens now through September 3, 2018.
