Features More than 50 Art & Craft Vendors, Demonstrations, Food, Beer and Wine

Winchester, VA 5/22/19…More than 50 artists will show and sell their works at the Amuse Art and Craft Fair at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26. Admission to the event is free. Food, beer, and wine will available for purchase throughout the day.

In its fourth year, Amuse will showcase jewelry, glass, furniture, pillows, pottery, paintings, prints, textiles, baskets, hand-crafted candles, soap, accessories made out of recycled bicycle parts, and more. Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to see artists demonstrating woodworking, jewelry making, paper making, and other crafts.

According to event co-organizer Kerry Stavely, the majority of the artists and crafters participating in the event are from Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and Washington, DC.

A number of artists are attending the event for the first time, including—from Pittsburgh—Collarbone Jewelry (fashion jewelry made from brass, bronze, base metals, and raw stones) and Flux Bene (clothing and accessories made using hand-dyeing techniques and upcycled materials); the Shenandoah Valley’s Red Root & Co (handcrafted, plant-based tonics, beverages, vinegars, teas, and other herbal preparations); Richmond, Virginia-based People via Plants (hand-made made ceramic planters with healing crystals); and Bicycle Trash from Washington, DC (belts, bags, bottle openers, and bottle carriers made from recycled bicycle parts). Dozens of artists are returning to showcase their works in Amuse, including potter Kary Haun of Woodstock, Virginia; Winchester paper and printmaker Joe Cunningham; and Jenny Pumpy jewelry of Winchester. In addition to browsing the displays, attendees may also enjoy a free rock-painting activity at the ShenArts booth and take their pictures in front of a Winchester-themed photo backdrop designed by Valley graphic designer Amie Cave.

The first 25 attendees of the 2019 Amuse Art and Craft Fair will receive a free tote bag and all attendees may enter a daily raffle to wine a tote bag filled with goodies from various Amuse vendors and four free admission tickets to the MSV Gardens at Night concert series.

Food, beer, and wine will be available for purchase during the Amuse Art and Craft Fair. Food selections include barbecue from Jordan Springs Market, the Roaming Bistro food truck (Saturday only), artisanal pizza 3FiresOven (Sunday only), seafood from the Skrimp Shack (Sunday only), and ice cream from Red Fox Creamery. Craft beer will be offered for $7 per bottle and regional wine from Winchester’s wine mill will be available for $8 per glass.

The Amuse Art and Craft Fair is a family friendly rain or shine event (service dogs only please). Artists will be set up on the Museum Reception Hall Patio and adjoining lawn.

The MSV is the host sponsor for the 2019 Amuse Art and Craft Fair. The annual event is organized by Kim Johnston (Winchester Art Market), Kerry Stavely (Tin Top Art & Handmade), and Jaimianne Amicucci (Creative Crafts Council).

A regional cultural center, the MSV is located at 901 Amherst Street in Winchester, Virginia. The MSV includes galleries displaying permanent collections and changing exhibitions, the Glen Burnie House, and seven acres of gardens.
