Features 50 Art & Craft Vendors, Demonstrations, Food, Beer and Wine

Winchester, VA 5/22/18…Fifty artists will show and sell their works at the Amuse Art and Craft Fair at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27. Admission to the event is free. Food, beer, and wine will available for purchase throughout the day.

In its third year, Amuse will showcase jewelry, glass, furniture, pillows, pottery, handmade leather bags, paintings, prints, textiles, hand-crafted candles, soap, and more. Throughout the day, artist Glen Richardson will create one-of-a-kind wood portraits using a chainsaw and artist Phil Valencia will present live glass-blowing demonstrations.

According to event co-organizer Kerry Stavely, the majority of the artists and crafters participating in the event are from Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and Washington, DC, areas.   A number of artists are attending the event for the first time, including woodcut print maker Paul Roden of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; furniture designer and maker Daniel Lefkowitz of Strasburg, Virginia; and doll artist Karly Perez of Winchester. Dozens of artists are returning to showcase their works in Amuse, including Fibergig of Berryville, Virginia; jewelry makers Marny & Swa of Frederick, Maryland; and wood turner Tony Demasi of Front Royal, Virginia.

Food, beer, and wine will be available for purchase during the Amuse Art and Craft Fair. The Mac Shack Express food truck, 3FiresOven artisanal pizza, and ice cream from Red Fox Creamery will be on site and beer from Winchester’s Escutcheon Brewing (Sip Angle IPA, Agonic Line Vienna Lager, and Growler Kölsch) and wine from Purcelville’s Sunset Hill Vineyards (Sunset Rosé and Sunset White) will be available for purchase.

The Amuse Art and Craft Fair is a family friendly rain or shine event (service dogs only please). Artists will be in under large tents near the museum building as well as inside the MSV Reception Hall.

The MSV is the host sponsor for the 2018 Amuse Art and Craft Fair. The annual event is organized by Kim Johnston (Winchester Art Market), Kerry Stavely (Tin Top Art and Handmade), and Jaimianne Amicucci (Creative Crafts Council). Additional event sponsors include the Alamo Drafthouse Winchester, the Independent School of Winchester, and Route 11 Potato Chips.

A regional cultural center, the MSV is located at 901 Amherst Street in Winchester, Virginia. The MSV includes galleries, the Glen Burnie House, and seven acres of gardens. The award-winning traveling exhibition Nature Connects®: Art with LEGO® Bricks is on view in the MSV gardens now through September 3, 2018. Admission to the outdoor exhibition—which includes admission to the MSV galleries—is $10 for adults, $8 for youth ages 13–18 and seniors, and $5 for ages 5–12.
