Learning Opportunities

The MSV offers a variety of educational programs to complement our mission of preserving and enriching the cultural life and heritage of the Shenandoah Valley for the community. Whether you're looking for programs for adults or for kids and families, you will find engaging and informative experiences at the MSV! Check our calendar of events for information about upcoming events and programs and to register online.

Youth & Family
Youth programs at the MSV serve kids in preschool through high school. Our programs and interpretive materials encourage early discovery of art, history, science, and more! These programs are generally no to low cost and often encourage families to participate and create together. In addition to our regularly scheduled programs, kid-friendly activities are also offered at most of our community events.

Teens who have a general interest in art, history, or horticulture should check out our adult programs open to ages 16+. If your teen has a desire to develop their art skills and knowledge, consider our summer teen workshops offer participants guided instruction as they work with a variety of art media.

Adult programs at the MSV are designed to accommodate audiences of all skill levels. From lectures and painting classes to demonstrations and behind the scenes lessons,

programs enhance visitors’ appreciation of special exhibitions, particular artists and craftsmen, or art movements as well as the Museum’s permanent Collection and Glen Burnie Gardens

Community Outreach Program
Let the MSV come to you! Each year the Museum offers a series of intriguing and informative outreach programs presented by staff members. Many programs include a hands-on component and all can be tailored to your group’s needs. Most are designed for adult groups but can be adapted for teens or youth.
