Nearly 40 portraits from the collection of the MSV’s benefactor will be featured in the new exhibition Face to Face: Portraits from the Julian Wood Glass Jr. Collection. Opening in the Founders Gallery on November 18, this exhibition will include works by renowned artists, such as Rembrandt Peale, George Romney, Gilbert Stuart, Sir Henry Raeburn, John Singleton Copley, Sir Thomas Lawrence, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Pompeo Batoni, and Thomas Gainsborough. Portraits included will feature men, women, families, and children from the 1600s through the 1800s. Most of the paintings are British, with some works by American and Dutch painters also to be included.
Scheduled to be on view for approximately 18 months, this is the second in a series of rotating exhibitions that will showcase the Julian Wood Glass Jr. Collection.
