From young brides to dashing military heroes, explore the lives of the people and their clothing portrayed in the MSV exhibition Face to Face Portraits from the Julian Wood Glass Jr. Collection with Nancy Huth, MSV deputy director of arts and education. Organizer of Face to Face, Nancy will highlight select works in the exhibition during this 30- to 40-minute informal interactive talk in the Founders Gallery. For ages 16 and up.
Featuring 35 portraits and eight mirrors from the collection of MSV benefactor Julian Wood Glass Jr. (1910–1992), Face to Face includes works by renowned artists, such as Rembrandt Peale, George Romney, Gilbert Stuart, Sir Thomas Lawrence, Henry Raeburn, and Thomas Gainsborough. The exhibition includes portraits of men, women, families, and children from the 1600s to the 1800s. Most of the paintings are British, with some works by American and Dutch painters.
