Gallery Talk: “The Civil War in the Valley” (11 a.m.– 12 p.m.)

Using works seen in the exhibition Mort Kunstler: The Art of Adventure, National Park Service Ranger Kyle Rothemich of Cedar Creek and Belle Grove Historical National Park, will lead a gallery talk about the Civil War in the Shenandoah Valley.

Join National Park Service Ranger Kyle Rothemich from Cedar Creek and Belle Grove Historical National Park as he explores and interprets Mort Künstler’s paintings of local Civil War scenes on view in the exhibition Mort Künstler: The Art of Adventure. During this gallery talk, Kyle will highlight select works in the exhibition that focus on the Valley Campaign and Virginia battlefield sites from the onset of secession through Jackson’s 1862 Shenandoah Valley Campaign.[This gallery talk is also available 2─3 p.m.]

Kyle Rothemich is a Park Ranger at Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park. A recent graduate of James Madison University, Rothemich holds degrees in History and Public History. Kyle will be attending graduate school in the fall, pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public History.
